Born with multiple deformities in her feet and spine, Valentina has faced more challenges in her young life than many do in a lifetime. Yet, her resilience and determination shine through every step of her journey. With the unwavering support of the International Children’s Program at LuskinOIC, what once seemed like distant dreams are now within reach.
Valentina began her medical journey at just 2 years old, undergoing surgeries to correct her foot deformities and starting treatment for her curved spine. Each milestone has brought her closer to better health, and her most recent checkup with Dr. Mauricio Silva on March 3rd marked another encouraging chapter in her progress. The care and expertise she’s received have made a profound impact on her quality of life.

As a parent, your top priority is keeping your child safe and healthy. But when your child is sick or injured, it can be hard to know what level of care they need. Should you call your pediatrician, visit urgent care, or head straight to the emergency department?
For non-emergencies, your child’s pediatrician or a pediatric urgent care center is often the best place to start.
