For the past four years, 13-year-old Karen has been an inspiring part of the LuskinOIC family. Born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, Karen faced complex challenges including significant tibia rotation, knee deformity, and leg length discrepancy that affected her mobility and independence.
Under the expert care of Dr. Bowen and now Dr. Scaduto, Karen has received comprehensive treatment tailored to her unique needs. Following a successful surgery in 2020 and dedicated support from our rehabilitation team, Karen has achieved remarkable milestones. Today, she confidently walks to the park, enjoys playing with friends, and navigates school with greater independence than ever before.
Karen’s progress exemplifies the transformative power of specialized pediatric orthopaedic care combined with comprehensive rehabilitation support. Her journey from facing mobility challenges to embracing an active, independent lifestyle demonstrates what’s possible when expert medical care meets determination and family support. At LuskinOIC, we’re honored to be part of Karen’s ongoing story of strength, resilience, and the joy of childhood rediscovered.
